Eis im Bauch

in cooperation with Helga Hagen

AV Installation, drei Kanal Video, multikanal Audio
Länge: 18min, Loop

Global warming, melting glaciers and rising sea levels are on everyone’s lips – and consumers are enjoying their ice cream. The installation „EIS IM BAUCH“ is intended to send an artistic signal against man-made climate change and encourage critical consideration of consumption. To this end, EIS IM BAUCH combines numerous visual and auditive elements, some of which are in strong tension with each other.

The composition that I created for this work with Helga Hagen was developed with a special focus on the spatial sound dimension. The main theme is formed by the sounds of nature and the body between glacier melt and the consumption of ice cream. The composition has an extremely atmospheric and opaque character, which is reinforced by the booming, threatening soundscapes.

Through a multi-track audio-video setup, visitors are visually and aurally completely encapsulated in the artistic event. Thanks to the slow and gradual development of the audiovisual composition, the backdrop and atmosphere give the viewer enough time to immerse themselves deeply. The installation runs as a closed loop, without a recognizable beginning or end – one cycle lasts around 20 minutes. Visitors can move freely around the space and view the setting from different angles. The spatial hearing, seeing and experiencing deepened by the technical structure not only enables unusual, but also intense impressions. This can give rise to a multitude of associations that also stem from deeper layers of consciousness.
